Mountaineers for a Day
The rain hammered heavily on the roof and so I slept with a heavy heart. The next morning brought no better luck for though the rain stopped, a thick fog hang on the mountains. Today's supposed to be the day for our mountaineering and it seems it's going to be cancelled after all for look at the weather! I dare say it's not a good one for an outing. But as if hearing my muttering, the sun peeped and the curtain of clouds parted to reveal the glorious mountain. Nature, here we come!!!!
The third year students couldn't hide their excitement even as the teacher was saying his final instructions and precautions for the activity. Finally prepared---clad in our hiking clothes and rugged shoes and our bulging packs, we began our trek to the mountains.
The journey's first part took us to a narrow, steep road which never seemed to end. Instantly, I was sweating profusely and for a moment----just for a flicker of moment----the thought of going back crossed my mind. But come on, I wouldn't dare miss whatever lies before us.

The tower loomed gigantically above us and those who still had their strengths climbed nearer to it. But I was among the few who stayed behind. Seeing it that near was enough for me.
